Combined Fighting Arts (CFA)
Combined Fighting Arts (CFA) is our unique martial arts system, which develops well-rounded and complete martial artists. CFA has been thoughtfully created by our Chief Instructor, Mark Hayes, and seamlessly blends together three complimentary art forms – ground fighting, striking and Kali/Eskrima.
Our CFA classes are focused on developing effective techniques in the various fighting ranges which can be used for both self-defence and competition purposes.CFA students find the classes to be the perfect mixture of intensive exercise and effective fight training, and the system is used by our fight team to form the basis of their competitive Mixed Martial Arts training. Combined Fighting Arts is also the system that we use to train Instructors and grade students up to Black Belt level.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a ground fighting martial art that has its roots in the traditional Japanese arts of Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. BJJ has been developed by the famous Gracie family, and all reputable BJJ teachers can trace their lineage back to Carlos Gracie and his teacher – Mitsuyo Maeda.
Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are taught by Chief Instructor Mark Hayes, who is the Sheffield representative for Felipe Alves de Souza’s renowned BJJ School. The classes teach a mixture of positions, sweeps and joint-locking techniques for control and submission, and time is given to both the proper application of technique and live sparring (also known as “rolling”). Our classes are taught in such a way that everyone from complete beginners to more advanced practitioners can develop their technique.
Our Kali/Eskrima classes incorporate a range of techniques from the different systems studied by Chief Instructor Mark Hayes, including Inosanto Lacoste and Doce Pares, which are designed specifically for close-quarter fighting. The classes are focused on developing skills in 12 areas of training including striking, edged weapons, wooden weapons, trapping and grappling; and they are the perfect way to improve speed, agility and co-ordination. Both experienced martial artists and beginners alike enjoy the variation and efficacy of our Kali/Eskrima classes.
Kettelbells and Conditioning
Kettlebell training is an ancient Russian practice of ballistic weight training, which has been used for centuries by practitioners to develop strong and responsive physiques. Popularised in recent years by RKC creator Pavel Tstasouline, Kettlebells training is a fast and effective way to blast body fat and improve fitness and well-being.
Our Kettlebells and Conditioning classes are the only classes in the South Yorkshire region that are taught by a fully qualified RKC instructor. Our classes emphasise the importance of always maintaining good technique and form, and beginners are carefully guided through fundamental Kettlebell exercises and techniques. More advanced participants are encouraged to challenge themselves and improve their conditioning with intensive workouts that incorporate plyometrics and Olympic weight-lifting exercises. Our Kettlebells and Conditioning classes are low-impact, and are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.
